NCSG Hosts Purple Line Corridor Community Development Event

Mapping demonstration by Eli Knaap at PLCC event.More than 260 community leaders, business owners and local officials attended "Beyond the Tracks: Community Development in the Purple Line Corridor" on Friday, March 21. Participants addressed issues of economic and workforce development, affordable housing, and small business retention for communities along the proposed 16-mile Purple Line lightrail. The transit line would would provide an east-west transit connection for Maryland’s two largest counties, with 21 stations between Bethesda in Montgomery County and New Carrollton in Prince George’s County. Beyond the Tracks was hosted by the National Center for Smart Growth’s Purple Line Corridor Coalition (PLCC).
