Maryland Statewide Transportation Model Workshop

As a part of Maryland Statewide Transportation Model (MSTM) development and application research, Research Assistant Professor Sabyasachee Mishra, in cooperation with Maryland State Highway Administration and Parsons Brinkerhoff conducted an all day workshop for transportation engineers from state and metropolitan planning organizations. The workshop, held on July 15, 2011, was designed to describe and demonstrate various components of MSTM in a total of eight different sessions including model overview, socio-economic data reconciliation, person travel demand model, long distance travel demand model, freight movement, validation results, and model run demonstration. A training manual and electronic copy of the model was shared to all the participants. It was an engaging all day workshop where the participants shared their viewpoints from their modeling experience. A model version 1.0 was released at the workshop. In the next two to three months all the participants were requested to review the model and suggest any changes if necessary before a final model release.
