Patricia Gallivan is the GIS Coordinator at the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education at the University of Maryland (NCSG).  She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Mount Holyoke College and a Masters degree in Geography and Environmental Planning from Towson University.  Her prior experience centered on neighborhood social and economic vitality indicators and transportation planning.  Gallivan’s research interests include the applications of GIS in Urban and Transportation Planning.

 At the NCSG, Gallivan is working on the data collection, modeling, and validation of the Maryland Statewide Transportation Model.  Among other indicators, this project models the impact of tolls and transportation-based emissions for the State of Maryland.  Patricia’s other projects include: working on build-out scenarios for the State of Maryland, analyzing climate change and its potential impact on sea level rise in the Port of Baltimore, and a study of the commute shed for potential new large employment centers in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
