Sabyasachee Mishra is a research assistant professor at the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education (NCSGRE) at the University of Maryland. He is the P.I. of the project titled “"An Integrated Framework for Modeling Freight Mode, and Route Choice", and the Co-PI of “Maryland Statewide Transportation Model Development.” Both these projects are funded by Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA). In addition, he is also involved in the Maryland Scenario project sponsored by Maryland Department of Transportation, and Modeling Mega Region project sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). In the past he is also involved working on projects sponsored by Michigan Department of Transportation, and U.S. Department of Transportation.
Dr. Mishra’s research interests include transportation planning/modeling, sustainable transportation infrastructure, Land use and transportation integration, asset management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), environmental modeling, transportation economics / finance, public private partnerships, optimization methods for transportation problems, optimal resource allocation and transit operation. His research is published in national and international journals including Transportation Research, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and Transportation Research Board (TRB). He presented articles in Annual Meetings of TRB, World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR), Road Safety Simulation, National Urban Freight Conference, International Conference on Transport Economics, International Symposium on Freeway and Tollway Operations, American Collegiate School of Planning, Census Data for Transportation Applications Conference, TRB Planning Applications Conference, and Annual Metropolitan Planning Organizations Conference.
Mishra is a member of the TRB Transportation Economics (ABE20) committee and a reviewer of the TRB papers submitted for possible publication and presentation. He is also a reviewer of ASCE Journal of Transportation Engineering, and a number of Elsevier journals including Transportation research. In 2006, Mishra was awarded Thomas C. Rumble fellowship at Wayne State University (WSU). Dr. Mishra has been awarded Graduate Professional Scholarship for two consecutive years (2007 and 2008) by the WSU Graduate School. Dr. Mishra is the 2009 recipient of the Andrzej Olbrot Travel Award. Dr. Mishra received Summer Dissertation Fellowship in 2009 at WSU. In addition to scholarships and fellowship at the university, Mishra own awards in the student paper competition of Institute of Transportation (ITE) Michigan Section (2007, 2008, and 2009) and Great Lakes District (2008, 2009).
